Super strong motor mounts and balanced Honda 270cc OHV engines start easy, run quiet and are proven reliable, with minimum maintenance and service requirements for busy rental yards.
Even a beginner can confidently chip branches up to 3 inches in diameter with the two reversible chipper blades on a balanced rotor, and 12 serrated shredding knives provide trouble-free shredding. The large, easy-feeding hopper helps every user work with confidence.
Power to the rotor is enhanced by the 2-belt drive which helps every operator turn all sorts of yard debris into great mulch material. Either machine is very maneuverable around a job site.

The ECHO Bear Cat chipper/shredders are designed to effectively reduce the volume of
wood, leaves, and other organic material.
If you don’t plan on recycling the material, use the chipper. Also use the chipper if the material
is green and stringy.
If you plan on using the material for compost use the shredder. Shredding is an efficient way
to reduce the volume of leaves or prunings.
Depending on the type of wood, age and cleanliness, chipper blades will work well for between
five and ten hours. Dry, dirty wood will dull the blades faster.
The ECHO Bear Cat 3” chipper/shredder will chip a branch or bundle of branches up to
3” in diameter. The ECHO Bear Cat 5” chipper/shredder will chip a branch or bundle of
branches up to 5” in diameter.
There are 4 debris screens that are available. The 1.5” is the standard screen and the
other 3 screens that are available as accessories are: .375”, .75”, and a wet debris screen.
The debris screens are available for all models except two models. Both the SC5540B and
SC5670B have five shredder settings that are regulated by an adjustable gate, which controls
output.
